After installing Pro Tools 8 HD on a Mac Pro (2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon w/ 10GB RAM) I found playback of Quicktime video files to be jerky. This is when playing back DV video files on a second monitor screen - the way I have always worked in Pro Tools 6 & 7. Even a session with nothing in it but a video file plays back jerky. Oh and the video files are on their own dedicated internal 500 GB drive. The movie files that are problematic are DV format with a 23.98fps frame rate. That is all that separates it from the other files I've successfully tested which were various other formats and usually 29.97 or 30 fps. Oh and, the quicktime window on the 2nd monitor is always the only window, expanded to fit to screen. Of the point a little. Change view to landscape in excel. Ive had some freezing and other weird stuff on PT8 too. As a whole, its great, not enough problems 4 me to worry about too much. Im keeping a record of weirdness to forward onto digi. Not alot of things, and im sure others will have already reported these to digi. I replaced my internal recording drive with a second system drive, and im tracking onto firewire 800 instead of that internal. Makes it really easy to return to my 7.4 setup and vise versa. I can startup on my 10.4.11 with PT7.4, or my exciting shiny new Pt8 on 10.5.5.
